Jerome Henry, Principal Engineer at Cisco, reviews how Cisco and Apple partnered to improve QoS between devices and access points. The challenge was to create a system that could prioritize business critical apps and data, be easy to implement, and give IT control over app priority. This resulted in Fast Lane QoS markings. This allows for supported apps to mark traffic from white listed apps with QoS profiles that Cisco APs will recognize.

Jerome Henry, Principal Engineer at Cisco, reiterates to the delegates that the Apple and Cisco partnership is an ongoing project, not simply a one-time partnership. They want to make Wi-Fi coverage on Apple devices as seamless on Wi-Fi as it currently is on cellular. If you can forget that you’re connected to the network, they’ve done their job.
