Dave Wright, Founder of SolidFire, now part of NetApp, comes clean about the lies that flash storage companies tell. He begins with the challenges of adapting a disk architecture to flash, adding data reduction and complex metadata handling and dealing with wear amplification. He then talks scalable storage, starting with the issues of monolithic controllers and multi-protocol support. He disputes the idea that there is one single flash storage architecture and presents the NetApp portfolio.
