This complex landscape extends across a number of connection types to a variety of applications. He then introduces the Riverbed SteelFusion which provides a software-defined edge IT platform to make hybrid cloud management much easier in remote locations. These can run infrastructure, file, and critical application services.

He shows how SteelFusion Edge collapses the edge server, storage, and backup into a single appliance. He shows how to deploy application from the core data center out to the edge.

The platform also now supports Hyper-V, allowing it to work on Azure Cloud. This capability is then demoed for the delegates.

Bruce Miller, VP of Marketing at Xirrus, reviews why the company was acquired by Riverbed, what their appeal is to customers, and how Xirrus fits into the Riverbed Edge IT platform. Riverbed Xirrus is able to deliver a distributed model of Wi-Fi, which pushes the intelligence of control to the edge, while keeping the management plane in the cloud or on-prem. This removes a single point of failure from the system, and enable organizations to better control Wi-Fi on the edge.
