Ash Ashutosh, Founder and CEO of Actifio, reintroduces the company to the delegates. Actifio first presented at Tech Field Day in 2010 and introduced the idea that data is an asset and must be managed as such. Ash then introduces the idea behind their Enterprise Data as a service offering, Sky Platform 8.0. This is a cloud native offering that provides multi-cloud support with native object storage.

Brylan Achilles, Global Field CTO at Actifio, gives an architectural overview of Actifio. Their Enterprise Data as a Service offering is designed around speed, efficiency and scale. Data is captured incrementally, with only the deltas being moved via their virtual data pipeline. This is made available in the cloud, while keeping a database on the changes. Virtual copies offer quick access to many different versions for a variety of production and test/dev purposes.

Chandra Reddy, VP of Product Marketing with Actifio, introduces a new feature of their Actifio Sky 8.0 release, cloud mobility. This allows you to take a VM or physical machine and bring it up on another cloud. This captures the data as well as system state, uses its incremental ingestion, and makes it compatible with the cloud’s native hypervisor. This is then demonstrated for the delegates.

Chandra Reddy, VP of Product Marketing with Actifio, introduces a new feature for Actifio Sky 8.0, which goes beyond instant recovery, Oracle ASM Switch & Rebalance. This is designed to mitigate the problems of large databases, which typically have a large RTO and downtime to return to production. With their Switch and Rebalance approach, this greatly reduces the RTO, and by switching to their Snap Pool with incremental updaes, allows for a zero down time restore to production.

Actifio Test Data Management for DevOps with Chandra Reddy

Chandra Reddy, VP of Product Marketing with Actifio, reviews new features for Actifio Sky 8.0, test data management for DevOps. This helps to solve the problem of database cloning, which is time consuming and storage intensive. Actifio solves this by creating a gold copy from their incremental backups to create virtual databases from production. These self service virtual databases do not require any knowledge of the Actifio UI with full API support.
