Tabriz Holtz, Engineering Lead at Pure Storage, reviews the company’s newly announced Purity Flash Array ActiveCluster solution, their entry into the synchronous replication market. This was designed to specifically resolve customer pain points, including disaster protection, consistent performance, and transparent failover, all in a solution that’s easy to manage. ActiveCluster is designed to read, write and modify on both sides of the cluster, with no RTO, RPO, additional licensing, or additional hardware.

Pete Kirkpatrick, Chief Hardware Architect at Pure Storage, reviews the inner workings of the FlashArray //X, their 100% NVMe all-flash array. This includes a review of the physical array appliance, which includes NVRAM to avoid bottlenecks and DirectFlash modules for NVMe. He then gets into the architectural overview of how the system works.

Their emphasis on this was to make virtual volume set up as simple as possible across all aspects. This includes an architectural overview showing what exactly happens with a virtual volume is created. He then goes through a brief demonstration.
