Kunal shares Pure’s background, and Pure’s vision for unifying cloud infrastructure and delivering a true hybrid cloud experience bases on Pure’s three key pillars: Build Your Cloud, Run Anywhere, and Protect Everywhere

The focus of today’s presentation will be the Protect Everywhere pillar, providing a deep dive into Pure’s CloudSnap functionality, an array native snapshot offload capability that allows customers to leverage Cloud economics for their secondary storage needs.

A deep dive into Purity CloudSnap, explaining how it addresses data protection needs with efficient and quick restores for low RTO & RPO, compliance, and longer-term data protection for volume-level restores. CloudSnap provides cloud-based data protection, built into Pure FlashArray.

CloudSnap is built into the Purity operating system and is included with Pure’s Evergreen subscription. It doesn’t require a separate license, additional software, or extra hardware.

In the CloudSnap demo, Dirk demonstrates how simple it is to setup and manage CloudSnap. He will demonstrate how CloudSnap is simply an extension of the way Pure customers have been scheduling and managing local snapshots for their on-premises arrays. He will also show how Pure provides a single pane of glass to view and manage snapshots across a fleet of FlashArray’s (FlashArray and Cloud Block Store).

Pure Storage Portable Snapshots

In this section, Dirk will discuss Pure’s Portable Snapshots which provide the ability to create snapshots off Pure FlashArrays that are efficient and “smart”, even with data transfer. Portable Snapshots are self-describing, they encapsulate metadata, preserve compression, and only send delta changes between snaps, where versions of snaps might be flowing frequently.

He will also talk about how Pure extends portable snapshots with AWS S3 as a target for effortless, efficient, and affordable cloud data protection.
