Troy Mangum, Red Hat Product Marketing, introduces the OpenShift Container Platform at Tech Field Day 22. Red Hat’s goal is to offer OpenShift Everywhere, from Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google GCP, and IBM Cloud to on-premises and edge deployment. OpenShift was designed to be a smarter Kubernetes platform, and Mangum presents customer use cases that show how it can increase efficiency and developer productivity.

Jason Dobies, Senior Principal Developer Advocate, demonstrates Red Hat OpenShift operations and development. First, he shows OpenShift’s CLI, oc, which is similar to kubectl, and odo, a development tool for testing and deploying applications. Next he moves into the OpenShift graphical user interface and continues working with his demo application. Throughout the demo, Dobies takes questions from the Tech Field Day delegates.

Nick Barcet, Sr. Director of Technology Strategy, and Mark Schmitt, Principal Product Manager, present Red Hat OpenShift at the edge. OpenShift is designed to provide a consistent platform from the core to the edge in large or small configurations. Barcet then discusses use cases for OpenShift at the edge, including AI/ML and telco RAN. Schmitt then presents a solution blueprint for industrial manufacturing and takes questions from the Tech Field Day delegates.
