Rick Vanover, Senior Director for Product Strategy, and David Hill, Global Technologist for Product Strategy, introduce the Veeam session at Tech Field Day 22 with a discussion of what the company has accomplished and where it is going. After going over the agenda for the Tech Field Day 22 presentation and discussion with the delegates, Vanover discusses how Veeam has become a trusted provider of backup solutions by delivering a single platform for cloud, virtual, and physical infrastructure data protection. Hill then presents “Act II” for Veeam, as the company delivers cloud-native products with an eye toward the future.

Rick Vanover, Senior Director for Product Strategy, presents object storage enhancements in Veeam Availability Suite version 11, which is currently in beta. He then demonstrates Veeam backup repositories on Microsoft Azure blob and archive storage. The Veeam scale-out backup repository implements tiered storage for backups. At the end of the session, Vanover takes questions from the Field Day delegates.

Melissa Palmer, Sr. Technologist, presents version 4 of Veeam Availability Orchestrator, which automates recovery, testing, and documentation of business operations. New in version 4 is orchestration of Veeam CDP replicas. She then demonstrates the product, showing how to run a DR test, create a DR plan, and launch a DR plan.

David Hill, Global Technologist for Product Strategy, introduces the Kasten platform for data management of cloud-native applications. Veeam announced their acquisition of Kasten on October 6, 2020, and this is one of the first discussions of the integration of this solution into the Veeam portfolio. Kasten’s K10 platform brings data protection and mobility to Kubernetes workloads with a focus on application state across containers. After an architecture overview and product roadmap discussion, Hill demonstrates installation and configuration of Kasten, creation of policies, and application restore. At the end of this presentation, Rick Vanover, Senior Director for Product Strategy, summarizes the Tech Field Day presentation and takes questions from the Tech Field Day delegates.
