Decoupling the WLAN

Cisco is no stranger to Field Day events, and we were thrilled to have them present recently at Mobility Field Day. In this post, Scott Lester breaks down how they do this by offering multiple upgrade options to minimize disruptions to the network.

Wi-Fi Is Dead?

Wi-Fi is dead, and 5G will eat everything… or will it? Scott Lester takes on this industry narrative by looking at what Aruba presented at Mobility Field Day earlier this month. They showed where indoor cellular solutions fall short, and how they are innovating with Wi-Fi to keep it relevant in the enterprise long term.

A New Way to Onboard

In this post, Scott Lester looks at Cisco’s OpenRoaming initiative as a way to make faster handoffs from LTE to public Wi-Fi without dropping called. Scott got to see an in depth presentation on this at Mobility Field Day, and get’s into the technical details in this post.

Welcoming netAlly

Many a Field Day event feature the mysterious Secret Company prior to the actual event. For Mobility Field Day, the Secret Company turned out to be netAlly, which was spun out of the network tooling division of Netscout. Scott Lester got to see some of Aruba’s latest AP hardware at Mobility Field Day last week. During the presentation, Aruba made the case why WPA3 was needed after a decade with WPA2, and why they are continuing to push for better standards.
