Muhammad Imam, Senior Manager Technical Marketing at Cisco, reviews the traditional role of fixed function ASICs at Cisco, and how programmability changes this mainstay. In 2013, they debuted the Catalyst 3850 switch, which had programmable pipelines. Muhammad reviews how the UADP ASIC architecture is able to achieve that programmability. Finally, he reviews the most recent feature updates for the Catalyst 3850 line.
