Luke Pruen, Technical Services Director at StorMagic, reviews how StorMagic handles caching. This is done in both flash and in memory to optimize for best performance. They do this to have various VMs hitting an SSD first, maintaining high speeds through the various I/O calls. This is then intelligently managed down to slower disk storage, ensuring this isn’t a performance choke point.
