Riverbed Technical Evangelist Phillip Gervasi introduces the company’s portfolio of application acceleration products. After discussing the challenges of remote network access and WAN optimization, Gervasi presents the vision for application acceleration. The Branch SteelHead client accelerator can be deployed as distributed software at the edge, as a service, or in the cloud. The Client Accelerator extends optimization and acceleration to mobile agents, reducing network latency and mediating connection issues.

Brandon Carroll, Director of the Technical Evangelist Team, introduces Riverbed’s portfolio of network visibility products. Network Performance Management is a key piece of the visibility requirements of administrators, since visibility gaps create problems across IT. Riverbed’s unified NPM platform addresses devices, packets, and flows for complex networks across the enterprise. This includes AppResponse Cloud, NetProfiler and Flow Gateway, and NetIM. After the presentation, Carroll takes questions from the Tech Field Day delegates.

Gwen Blum, Senior Technical Evangelist, discusses how packets and network traces can be used to for forensic troubleshooting. This demonstration uses SteelCentral Transaction Analyzer to isolate an IP conversation and analyze these packets. Next he demonstrates metrics and reports in Client Accelerator and deploys the Client Accelerator Controller in Microsoft Azure to manage it.

He begins with a discussion of anomaly detection and progressive baselining to detect changes over time. The product uses advanced capabilities, with multiple algorithms voting to determine the most important issues for each environment. He then moves on to present AI in networking, focusing on root cause analysis and trend extraction for predictive analysis.
