Vaughn Stewart, VP of Technology Alliances, introduces VMware Cloud Foundation on Pure Storage FlashStack. He begins with an overview of the solution and the benefits that Pure brings to VMware infrastructure. VMware Cloud Foundation is an on-premises architecture that aligns to VMware public cloud architectures, and Pure Storage FlashArray provides an integrated storage solution that provides many benefits over direct-attached storage solutions. VCF on FlashStack brings a standard architecture that is efficient and agile.
Following this introduction, Kyle Grossman, Sr. Solutions Architect, demonstrates implementation of the FlashStack solution migrating an ESXi host into the SDDC inventory to become part of an ESXi cluster. He then removes the node from the cluster, re-baselines it from a snapshot, and then adds it again to a second workload domain. This shows the speed and flexibility of the solution.
Following the demo, Kyle and Vaughn take questions from the Tech Field Day delegates.

Vaughn Stewart, VP of Technology Alliances, presents the flexible storage fabric options available to Pure Storage FlashStack customers. FlashStack supports Fibre Channel, iSCSI, VMFS, and vVol, and is prepared for next-generation protocols like NVMe over Fabric.
Next, Vaughn discusses management of VMware infrastructure enhanced by Pure Storage. FlashArray was originally designed to support VMware workloads and includes many features to reduce complexities and trade-offs. When FlashStack is used to support VMware Cloud Foundation, customers benefit from SmartConfig, vSphere Lifecycle Manager without loss of data protection, Pure 1 updates, integrated compute, storage, and networking, and in-place hardware upgrades.
Next, Kyle Grossmiller, Sr. Solutions Architect, demonstrates a vVols-based workload domain deployment in VCF. Kyle and Vaughn also take questions from the Tech Field Day delegates.

Kyle Grossmiller, Sr. Solutions Architect, discusses Kubernetes cloud-native storage in VMware Tanzu, vSphere, and the cloud-native storage (CSI) driver. He then demonstrates the vSphere Kubernetes integration with Pure Storage.
Next, Vaughn Stewart, VP of Technology Alliances, discusses the recent announcement of the acquisition of Portworx by Pure Storage. He gives a preview of how this acquisition will help Pure Storage advance the development of data services for Kubernetes in VMware and the cloud. They finish the presentation with questions from the Tech Field Day delegates.
