I started working in Wi-Fi “by accident” in the summer of 2000. A fiber optic cable was cut and I nailed up an 802.11b P2P link which paid for itself quickly. After that I started nailing up P2P links everywhere at my work, and the rest is history. In 2004, 802.11g came out and I started to deploy that indoors in select locations. I started deploying large, scalable 802.11g WLANs in 2007 and have been doing it ever since.

In 2007 I started studying for my CWNA certification, reading every version of CWNA flavored material I could find, along with everything I could find from Cisco systems – the vendor I was using at the time. I decided in 2009 to attain the CWNE certification, and started studying for it along with the Cisco CCNP-W in parallel. In 2012, I decided to make Wi-Fi my career focus entirely and have not looked back since.
