VMware was one of our presenters at Tech Field Day back in December, and they caught the attention of Field Day delegate Alastair Cooke. Picking between simplicity, flexibility, and performance on the VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) is a thing of the past. With their FlashStack Converged Infrastructure, Pure Storage is changing the game. They showcased how FlashStack (a joint offering between Pure Storage and Cisco) brings simplicity to an on-premises VCF deployment while at Tech Field Day Extra at VMworld 2020. Pensando SmartNICs Power Up VMware Environments

Pensando highlighted its collaboration with VMware at Tech Field Day Extra at VMworld 2020. Pensando notes that it has added value with its SmartNICs to the VMware ecosystem as part of Project Monterey, where VMware is partnering with vendors to create within the VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF). The value of Pensando SmartNICs comes from not only the hardware but the software as well. Cloud Field Day 9 delegate, Founder and CEO, Holden Information Services, LLC; IT Professional; Writer; Analyst, Michael Stump says yes. The times of lift and shift and refactor are over, and VMware has recognized that its clients come from all spectrums of the cloud journey. Its suite of vRealize applications, particularly the vRealize Operations Manager tool, showcased during Cloud Field Day 9, assists in the planning stages of a cloud project at any stage of the cloud journey.


CFD9: VMware’s vRealize Cloud Journey Story

Nothing in enterprise IT is ideal, says Becky Elliot, Cloud Field Day delegate and enterprise IT expert. That includes lifting and shifting applications instead of modernizing them to make the most of cloud-native agility like containers and object storage. VMware presented at Cloud Field Day 9 and its vRealize Suite and its SaaS and Hybrid are designed to help organizations get to the cloud and shift from on-premises vSphere to VMware Cloud on AWS (VMC), perhaps at least partially solving the lift and shift problem.

Tech Field Day 21: Google’s VMware Managed Service

The LinkedIn explores Google Cloud’s new VMware Engine, as presented at Tech Field Day 21. The VMware Engine runs on high-performance hardware with 100 Gbps networking, and offers benefits like seamless migration, easy scaling, Rapid innovation, and self-service experiences. The author praises the offering’s ease of provisioning, its lift-and-shift capabilities, and its integration with other Google Cloud services, while noting that operational responsibilities like backup & DR, and monitoring would still be customer-responsibilities.
