If there is one thing that we’ve all had to work through this year, it’s finding a way to improve our our work from home setups without breaking the bank. For our Tech Field Day delegates, that means also having equipment that will help them look and sound their best for the moments that they’ll be on camera for a wide audience. Coming Together During COVID-19, With Stephen Foskett of Gestalt IT
Tech Field Day founder and organizer Stephen Foskett appeared on Live Now to discuss how technology companies and events are adapting to the current COVID-19 self-isolating landscape. He finds the industry is dividing into two camps: those that are scaling back on events and other efforts as they get up to speed, and other that are already used to working remotely and operating at full speed. It’s an interesting discussion in how IT as a whole is reacting to this unprecedented situation.

Where Did Tech Field Day Come From? Tech Field Day at 10
One of the most common questions people ask Stephen Foskett is where the idea for Tech Field Day originally came from. In this post for Gestalt IT, he discusses the world of influencer/blogger relations back at the start of the event, including a key “blogger day” with HP (now HPE) storage. After that event, Stephen worked with others in the community, both on the blogger and vendor side, to create the first-ever Tech Field Day event, 10 years ago this month!
Where Did Tech Field Day Come From? Tech Field Day at 10
The root of Tech Field Day came from open-minded marketing and PR folks willing to connect with independent technical influencers on our own terms. The idea came from “blogger days” held by companies like HP. But the real inspiration came from the delegates themselves, who needed a way to connect with companies that respected their independence. Without the faith of both the sponsors and the delegates, we never would have gotten Tech Field Day off the ground!
