With over 25 years in the tech industry, Barton George has held a variety of roles at Dell, Sun Microsystems, and Sony in Tokyo, focusing on cloud computing, DevOps, developer relations, and the open-source community, where he is a recognized leader. At Dell, Barton founded and led Project Sputnik, transforming a $40,000 exploratory initiative into a portfolio of linux-powered developer laptops and workstations generating tens of millions in annual revenue.
Earlier in his career, Barton oversaw Linux distribution partnerships and open-source relationships at Sun Microsystems. Prior to Sun he managed the ISV program for Sony’s workstation division in Tokyo. Barton is a graduate of Harvard Business School and is known for his ability to translate complex concepts into accessible ideas, he is a frequent speaker, moderator, and thought leader profiled in such publications as Forbes, CIO, and ZDNet.
Barton excels in product creation, process optimization, and community building, bringing order to chaos while fostering innovation and execution. Born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, Barton is a single father of three, residing just outside of Austin, Texas.
