Making Network Operations Work Better with Riverbed

Phil Gervasi, Sr. Technical Evangelist, provides a look at how Riverbed helps organizations to ensure optimal service delivery through network and application performance visibility. After discussing how data points can help paint a “big picture” view of the whole network, Gervasi discusses the business challenges Riverbed is trying to solve with the Tech Field Day delegates. Riverbed Unified NPM seeks to bridge the challenges of distributed environments and the huge amounts of network telemetry being collected by focusing on key metrics of availability, performance degradation, and general network health. When considering service availability, Riverbed seeks to condense metrics like connection failures, response time, and errors to determine if an application is available or not. Riverbed’s Unified NPM Platform unifies many tools in infrastructure and application data collection and analysis to provide telemetry, including AppResponse, NetProfiler, and NetIM. It provides cross-domain data analytics from packets, flows, and devices all the time. The Riverbed Portal provides business metrics and application maps based on application architecture, context grouping, and behavioral analysis.

Visions of the Future with Riverbed

Vincent Berk, CTO & Chief Security Architect, provides a glimpse into the future of network and application visibility with Riverbed, and the industry trends that drive future capabilities. He begins by presenting Riverbed as a source of root cause analysis, using diversified views of data to deliver correlated information. Root cause analysis is the key to cyber security, and Riverbed NetProfiler and AppResponse can help by capturing and retaining every flow and packet. Riverbed provides a deep analysis of petabytes of data thanks to AI and ML, revolutionizing visibility analysis. This is a re-invention of Riverbed, with hybrid visibility, end-to-end in-depth analysis, delivered as a service (SaaS).
