SnapRoute Company Overview with Glenn Sullivan

Founded in August 2015 by former Apple data center network engineers to deliver a disaggregated network OS that has operations experience baked in. From late 2017 onward, focus is on bringing Cloud Native principles to networking – with native support of embedded Kubernetes running atop whitebox hardware.

CN-NOS focuses on the use of Cloud Native tools with direct and native control of the network device using kubernetes. Solving the challenges seen by operators is the focus – no technology for technology’s sake. This is an overview of the CN-NOS containerized microservices architecture and components, with specific focus on design decisions and their benefits.

This is a demo using a BGP topology with CN-NOS running on Edgecore whitebox switches and Ixia traffic generators. Ease of device management using both industry-standard CLI and native Kubernetes support is highlighted. Hitless upgrades of containerized adjacency and BGP microservices with live data-plane traffic shown. DevOps tool integration realized with streaming telemetry into InfuxDB, Grafana, and log aggregation using FluentD into an ELK stack.
