Tom Gillis, VMware SVP and GM of networking and security discusses his views on the future of networking and what’s driving VMware NSX adoption. Networking complexity is holding customers back. Networking must be as simple as it is in AWS or Azure. VMware NSX is delivering automated, secure, software-defined network infrastructure as code, operating at cloud-scale, with single-click deployment to wherever apps are located.

Local security VNF can be used as well as cloud based CASB or SWG services can be used to meet design requirements. The session also covers the mechanism to integrate Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) resources into the VMware SD-WAN by VeloCloud network and make this available to all connected branch locations.

VMware’s Pooja Patel debuts NSX-T Data Center 2.4, outlining new advancements that extend the value of an automated, programmable, and secure software-defined network to everyone involved in the new application-first world. VMware NSX-T 2.4 delivers operational simplicity for network operators with a new user interface (UI) built on HTML5; network infrastructure as code for developers and DevOps teams with a new declarative API model that simplifies network automation using human-readable JSON configuration; advanced cloud scale and carrier-grade capabilities for cloud and network architects; and intrinsic security, including context-aware firewalling, for security operators and architects.
