Modernizing AirMagnet With NetAlly

At Mobility Field Day, “The Networking Nerd” Tom Hollingsworth was excited to see that NetAlly has been able to make AirMagnet relevant and new again with their latest update. He writes that they’ve brought AirMagnet back with new features for our modern wireless networks including the ability to import data from AirCheck and EtherScope. Broadcom Mirror on Drop (MoD)

Peter Phaal was very impressed by Broadcom’s Mirror-on-Drop (MOD) capability. As he says, MOD-capable hardware can generate a notification whenever a packet is dropped by the ASIC, reporting the packet header and the reason that the packet was dropped. His post goes into more detail on what to watch for in their Networking Field Day presentation. Pure Storage at #TFDx #VMworld

Ned Bellavance has been acquainted with Pure Storage for a while and has always been impressed with their product capabilities. He had the chance to see them at Tech Field Day Extra at VMworld and talks about their presentations on his Daily Check-In video on YouTube. Ned says that Pure Storage has taken a step up with FlashStack by adding extra functionality that might have been missing in previous VCF deployments. He also analyses Pure Storage’s acquisition of Portworx and how it has brought more capabilities to their company as a whole. This isn’t the first time that Gian Palo Boarina has gotten to see Arista Networks up close and personal. “Will the DPU kill the Storage Array?” This is what Storage Field Day delegate Keith Townsend is wondering today. Keith had the chance to see Nebulon present at their first Storage Field Day, and as a result says we shouldn’t be abandoning the storage array just yet. In his blog, The Data Centre Brit, Storage Field Day delegate Jason Benedicic says his initial impression of Nebulon was way off. After listening to their presentations at Storage Field Day and having some follow up conversations with them, Jason writes that Nebulon has changed his initial impression and that they have a great chance of making a splash in the market. Tampering Visibility by Tempered Networks Airwall Solution

Tempered Networks might have gone last in the presentation lineup at Security Field Day earlier this year, but delegate Pieter-Jan Nefkens thinks that they were well placed to close the show with an intriguing encore. Tech Field Day 21: Google’s VMware Managed Service

The LinkedIn explores Google Cloud’s new VMware Engine, as presented at Tech Field Day 21. The VMware Engine runs on high-performance hardware with 100 Gbps networking, and offers benefits like seamless migration, easy scaling, Rapid innovation, and self-service experiences. The author praises the offering’s ease of provisioning, its lift-and-shift capabilities, and its integration with other Google Cloud services, while noting that operational responsibilities like backup & DR, and monitoring would still be customer-responsibilities.
