Delegate Gian Paolo Boarina was impressed with IP Fabric’s presentations at the most recent Networking Field Day. He writes that one of IP Fabric’s strongest advantage is the time it saves its users by automating tasks like collecting network information, updating network diagrams, or troubleshooting configuration consistency. Gian Paolo thinks that all network engineers should try out IP Fabric on their network — and thank him later. This isn’t the first time that Gian Palo Boarina has gotten to see Arista Networks up close and personal. While a delegate at Networking Field Day, he saw them present on a wide variety of topics including CloudVision which he says allows us to “enjoy all the benefits of a unified platform for management, automation and visibility without the burden to manage all the necessary systems.” He writes about his thoughts and observations on Arista on his blog. “Will the DPU kill the Storage Array?” This is what Storage Field Day delegate Keith Townsend is wondering today. Keith had the chance to see Nebulon present at their first Storage Field Day, and as a result says we shouldn’t be abandoning the storage array just yet. Keith thinks that Nebulon has a really unique offering and can help give us another look at distributed storage services. As a delegate Gian Paolo Boarina had the chance to see Catchpoint present earlier this month at Networking Field Day and was impressed with their Digital Experience Monitoring platform. He writes that Catchpoint is a tool every Ops team might want to have because it provides visibility and analytics in a simple way to help diagnose connectivity problems. Through a dynamic presentation and demo, Catchpoint was able to showcase their monitoring product. IP Fabric Solving Network Documentation Simply

Nebulon Shadow Storage
In his blog, The Data Centre Brit, Storage Field Day delegate Jason Benedicic says his initial impression of Nebulon was way off. After listening to their presentations at Storage Field Day and having some follow up conversations with them, Jason writes that Nebulon has changed his initial impression and that they have a great chance of making a splash in the market. Tampering Visibility by Tempered Networks Airwall Solution
Tempered Networks might have gone last in the presentation lineup at Security Field Day earlier this year, but delegate Pieter-Jan Nefkens thinks that they were well placed to close the show with an intriguing encore. He writes that Tempered Networks is working to change the game in terms of security without visibility. Pieter also shares that he has been testing out the software and hopes to share more updates on his experience in the future. Kati Lehmuskoski was one of the delegates at Tech Field Day at NGINX Sprint 2020 in September. NGINX packed the three day event with dynamic keynotes, intriguing demos, and a Hackathon that captured our imaginations. One of the keynote presentations that caught Kati’s attention was one focused on DevOps and given by Gene Kim. Tech Field Day 21: Google’s VMware Managed Service
The LinkedIn explores Google Cloud’s new VMware Engine, as presented at Tech Field Day 21. The VMware Engine runs on high-performance hardware with 100 Gbps networking, and offers benefits like seamless migration, easy scaling, Rapid innovation, and self-service experiences. The author praises the offering’s ease of provisioning, its lift-and-shift capabilities, and its integration with other Google Cloud services, while noting that operational responsibilities like backup & DR, and monitoring would still be customer-responsibilities.

Unified Security Theory With Fortinet
Treating wireless and networking separately in terms of security doesn’t really make sense anymore, so why are we doing just that? Tom Hollingsworth has been interacting with Fortinet products for many years, and had the chance to see them present at Mobility Field Day. Fortinet dispenses with the antiquated framework of wireless and networking and works to secure information with their patented ASIC technology. Hyperconvergence and Kubernetes – Gigaom
At Cloud Field Day this summer, delegate Enrico Signoretti had the chance to see Diamanti present on their storage architecture and how it incorporates hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI). In the past, HCI has largely been utilized for virtualized infrastructures, but is now being effectively applied for Kubernetes. Enrico was impressed with Diamanti’s implementation and writes that more tech companies should take a page from their unique approach to utilizing HCI for Kubernetes. Being Last to Network Field Day 23 Is Actually a Good Thing
Evan Mintzer was the twelfth and final delegate to sign on for the very quickly approaching Networking Field Day. While some people might rue being “picked last,” Evan has a different approach to it: Now he has less time to anxiously anticipate the event! Evan writes that he is impressed with the slate of presenters and writes his thoughts on who he is most excited to see. Pure Storage Acquires Portworx
There’s big news in the storage world this week as Pure Storage announces they are acquiring Portworx. Writing for Architecting IT, Chris Evans notes that he had the chance to see the CTO of Portworx present in another capacity at the very first Tech Field Day event in 2009. Chris writes that Pure Storage has made a significant move that will help them expand options for their customers. Pure Storage clearly has a long-term strategy planned out, and it will be interesting to see what they decide to do next.

106: Greybeards Talk Intel’s New HPC File System With Kelsey Prantis, Senior Software Eng. Manager, Intel
At Storage Field Day, delegate Ray Lucchesi had the opportunity to see Intel present on their new Optane Persistent Memory (PMEM) technology. In the latest episode of his podcast, GreyBeards On Storage, he talks with Intel’s Senior Software Engineering Manager Kelsey Prantis about Intel’s DAOS (Distributed Architecture Object Storage), a new HPC (high performance computing) file system.
