Infinidat announces new storage, replication & backup appliances + cloud storage
Ray Lucchesi outlines Infinidat’s new storage replication and backup appliances discussed at Storage Field Day 16. This includes InfiniSync, designed to be a “black box” to survive any disaster that could befall a data center, InfiniGuard, a solution to poor RTO results, as well as Infinidat’s new public cloud storage option. Ray discusses the purpose of each product as well as their positives and negatives looking forward.

Why Deterministic Storage Performance is Important
Chris Evans looks at why deterministic performance is important in storage. This effects everyone from hyperscalers, to smaller enterprises using HCI. Chris recalls SNIA’s Storage Field Day presentation from last year discuss how the organization is addressing tail latencies as part of this issue. Regardless of the size of an organization, consistent average performance is good, but significant poor performing outliers can be a significant challenge.

Hitachi Vantara HCP, hits it out of the park
Ray Lucchesi had been aware of Hitachi Vantara’s Content Platform, aka on-premises object store, for a while. But it wasn’t until their Tech Field Day Exclusive event that he realized how successful it was. HCP currently has over two thousand customers and is the #1 on-premises, object storage solution in the world. #SFD16 – Dell-EMC PowerMax and CloudIQ
A Storage Field Day, René van den Bedem got an update from Dell EMC. They specifically focused on PowerMax, their evolution of VMAX All Flash now with NVMe. René looks at why PowerMax still represents the best option for legacy 3-tier hardware and mission-critical legacy applications.

INFINIDAT to Showcase Expanded Product Portfolio at Storage Field Day 16
INFINIDAT presented at Storage Field Day last week, providing a look into their newly expanded product portfolio. 10 years at Cisco Live US, SD-WAN and Tech Field Day
LiveAction’s Dave Izumo wrote up his thoughts after coming home from Cisco Live US 2018 in Orlando. It was a packed event with lots to learn, including Dave presenting for LiveAction at Tech Field Day Extra. He demoed the company’s SD-WAN capabilities of their LiveNX architecture. It was Dave’s 10th Cisco Live, and definitely one to remember.

In this piece, Tom Hollingsworth looks at the announcements from Cisco Live US 2018. What stood out to him was the prominence of a non-networking specific topic, the cloud.
