With more than 24 years of experience in the data networking industry, Aamer Akhter, CCIE #4543 (R&S, SP), is leading product management for VMware SASE Security. In this role, he works with CTOs, business units, partners, and customers to develop new products in areas such as mid-mile optimization, zero-trust security, and multi-cloud connectivity. His projects focus on market and customer validation, financial modeling, risk analysis, technical feasibility, prototyping, and market launch. Additionally, he specializes in building joint products with Tier-1/2/3 service providers, public cloud providers, and interconnect providers.
Aamer’s previous experience includes work in IoT, network data analytics, UC, and high-performance routing where he led efforts in network performance measurement, workspace experience, and security services. Prior to joining VMware in 2019, Aamer served as a distinguished engineer at Cisco and as a technical advisor to the CEO and CTO at Live Action. A holder of over 30 patents, Aamer received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
