Joe Gardiner, Manager, Cloud Architecture EMEA at Pure Storage, gives an introduction to the challenges of data management with Kubernetes. He then introduces Portworx and describes its architecture in a whiteboard session. Then he discusses the concept of application-centric storage for containerized modern applications and gives a demonstration of a customer use case for Portworx in a metro disaster recovery scenario.

Unlike legacy environments, which are infrastructure-centric, Kubernetes applications need a new kind of integrated storage management, and this is what Portworx provides. Portworx gives continuous availability and high scalability to micro services applications. Gou then demonstrates Portworx in Kubernetes on public cloud for PostgreSQL failover, snapshots, and resize and real-world benefits of the solution.
