ExtraHop at Cloud Field Day 2019

ExtraHop was definitely excited to talk to the Cloud Field Day delegates this time around. At the event, they went deep on Reveal(x) Cloud, their cloud-native network detection and response solution. VMware’s Cloud in 300-Words

Keith Townsend returned to the VMware campus to hear Dell Technologies share their vision of VMware on Dell Technologies Cloud during Cloud Field Day. He recorded a great “hot take” video directly after the event, be sure to check it out. He was impressed by the quality of the conversation and the willingness of Dell to be flexible in the discussion.


Cloud Field Day 6–HashiCorp Consul

At Cloud Field Day, HashiCorp showed that they had more to offer the delegates than their well known solutions like Terraform and Vault. In this post, Joey D’Antoni looks at Consul, a service based networking tool for dynamic infrastructure like containers and serverless.


CFD6 VMware API Questions

Larry Smith Jr is no stranger to Field Day events, but that doesn’t mean we didn’t love having him as a delegate at Cloud Field Day earlier this year. He brings his typical technical acumen and insight into this post, asking some key question on what he saw from VMware at the event. We were fortunate to have Joey D’Antoni attend Cloud Field Day as a delegate. In this post, he breaks down what he saw from Morpheus Data at the event. They provide a set of tools that integrate with CI/CD solutions to offer a service catalog, provisioning system, along with configuration management. In there own estimation, they allow big companies to act like startups.


Solo.io Stole the Show at Cloud Field Day 6

Ned Bellavance doesn’t make any bones about it, Solo.io was his hands down favorite presentation at Cloud Field Day. They had a keen focus on delivering a customer-focused service mesh solutions with a suite of well built apps. This means helping customers solve problems, and building better functionality on top of the solutions they are already using. Dell Tech Cloud CFD6 – Hot Take

Keith Townsend returned to the VMware campus to hear Dell Technologies share their vision of VMware on Dell Technologies Cloud during Cloud Field Day. He appreciated the conversation flow of the conversation, and how the presenters were willing to curate their content to follow the interest of the delegates. It’s definitely a can’t miss presentation.


Cloud Field Day 6 Preview -Solo.io

Nate Avery got to hear from Solo.io at Cloud Field Day. Their solution center around service mesh solutions, an area that Nate sees as exploding with competition and features. Lucid Link CFD6 – Hot Take

Another mobile file system? Keith Townsend thought he was going to see a familiar song and dance from Lucid Link at Cloud Field Day. But he was pleasently surprised to see a truly different solution, with block storage served on top of S3 object storage, with a global file system distributed among clients. They had a very interesting demo, so be sure to check out their full event video coverage.


NetApp CFD6 – Hot Take

In this hot take from Keith Townsend, he looks at what NetApp showed off at Cloud Field Day. Keith is no stranger to hearing from the company, but this session had a deep technical focus. They looked at where does NetApp’s Kubernetes service run its compute. They reviewed how they separate their control plane from the cloud underlay and deploy instances large enough to support the Kubernetes infrastructure next to storage and other workloads.


Cloud Field Day 6 – Dell Technologies

In this video, Nate Avery digs into what he saw from Dell Technologies at Cloud Field Day. He digs into Dell and VMware’s commitment to bringing cloud to features and pricing to customer’s on-prem datacenters.


Cloud Field Day – First Impressions on Hammerspace

Ned Bellavance got to hear from Hammerspace at Cloud Field Day last month and shares his initial impressions in this post. They did a technical deep dive on their platform that sits in front of multiple NFS systems and decouples the metadata layer and the data layer from each other.
