New applications for S3 Object Storage with Scality

Object storage is already well-known for helping to solve growth challenges for large-scale data in the enterprise and within cloud service providers. Over the last decade, traditional deployments of object storage have exploited its advantages in scalability, low-cost and data immutability. This has helped to solve the need to store 100s of Terabytes to Petabytes of data in a reliable and cost-effective way for long-term storage such as for archival requirements. Now, a new breed of big data analytics applications has now emerged that is embracing object storage for much more performance-intensive active data workloads. This dramatically expands the use-cases for object storage into domains where traditional Tier1 storage systems were employed.
