Troubleshooting Lessons Learned

Both ended up using Netbeez’s client-side monitoring solution to help get regular and accurate upload and download speeds, which saved both human time, and increased accuracy. Welcome to the new TechFieldDay.com!

Tech Field Day began as an experiment by a group of Gestalt IT bloggers, but it has matured into a real force in the enterprise IT industry. With this maturity came recognition, organization, and the need to branch out. So we are pleased to introduce the new TechFieldDay.com, a web site that reflects the expanding […]

A look at Paessler PRTG

After seeing their presentation from Tech Field Day Extra at Cisco Live Europe, Jasper Bongertz decided to give Paessler PRTG a an extended look and write up his thoughts. It’s an impressively comprehensive rundown of the solutions monitoring capabilities. He walks through the setup processes, which is notably faster and easier than other open-source alternatives. He really likes how easy it is to setup monitoring sensors, which don’t require any complex configuration. In the end, although PRTG isn’t free like other alternative, the time you save may still make it the better value in the long run.

NGINX Post F5 Acquisition

Nathaniel Avery got to hear from NGINX at Cloud Field Day earlier this month. This was made an even more interesting presentation in light of the company’s recent acquisition by F5 Networks. For now, it appears that NGINX is operating business as usual, and isn’t changing the company’s model of building a commercial product on top of their open source web server. Nathaniel was pleased to see that the acquisition has not made the NGINX GitHub page any less lively.
